Introduction
Due to our sedentary way of living, the nature of our work, our postural habits, the way we manage relationships and situations around us, we are creating a lot of imbalances in the body.
Muscular blockages, hormonal and psychological disorders are but just a few of the symptoms of messing with the natural process of life.
A way to restore the natural pace of the body is by practicing yoga. This ancient technology with more than 15,000 years is available now in many forms all over the world.
Yoga is not a religion, is not a contortionist program, it is not an aerobic fitness program. It is a way of reinforcing and balancing the connection between mind, body, energy and emotions. When they’re all aligned, everything seems to work the way you want it, if not it feels like you’re being pulled apart in different directions.
What you experience is not determined on how flexible you are, we may all
have different capabilities on the outside, but we are all equally capable within.
We tend to avoid this practice because we are not flexible enough or because we are comfortable , avoiding new things, uncomfortable with change. Still we feel there is always place for improvement. When we stop growing, moving, adapting to change, we move towards stiffness, of mind or body.
“A man is born gentle and weak; at his death he is hard and stiff. All things, including the grass and trees, are soft and pliable in life; dry and brittle in death. Stiffness is thus a companion of death; flexibility a companion of life…a tree that cannot bend will crack in the wind. The hard and stiff will be broken; the soft and supple will prevail.” Lao Tzu
“One can talk endlessly, describing, piling words upon words, coming to various forms of conclusions, but out of all this verbal confusion if there is one clear action that action worth is 10,000 words”
That action is yoga. Yoga cannot be talked or explained it can just be experienced. There are in numerous benefits deriving from the practice, but still, these are just a few consequences of practicing these postures, through which one can elevate his consciousness.
The way we know yoga these days are always trough the conception or misconception of others. But everything it is always best known by our own experience. We alone are the one to see what suits us best.Yoga works on your whole system, improves the overall health of the body and mind.
Hatha Yoga – Himalayan Tradition
Yoga room. The place to practice, meditate or discover the self.
I will share my knowledge and personal experience with you, by practicing together and understanding better the purpose of this practices. What may start as a physical practice it will turn into something more experiential.
We might start yoga for some personal reason and we discover something totally different on the way, a lot better that we could ever imagined, and this happens in life, all the time.
The outcome of the practice is what you put into it.
Sometimes we believe that if we pay, everything is going to be done for us. It is not something I can do for you, it is something you do for yourself. It is an inside job.
It is like you want to have strength and muscles, but expect me to do your push ups, it is simply not possible.
If not the richest persons, would be the most fit and saint person on earth. Just paying a priest to erase their sins, not possible.
My presence is mostly to instruct, point, adjust and assist with some guidance. Don’t try to limit your experience into words, keep it to yourself, absorb, don’t give it to the mind because it will ruin it.
The best things in life are not intellectually understood but felt. You cannot think or understand love, you can just feel it.
It is not something you can brag about, so you show others how amazingly spiritual you are. Because you will learn it is not necessarily in your power, it is given or shown to you, but it is not yours or for you to make. It is like a child bragging with his family wealth, the child has no merits, he is just blessed, being humble rather than arrogant.
Everyone has their own individual path. Don’t judge, you cannot understand everything, rather try to feel them in your hearth, empathy.
If you dedicate yourself, keeping your opinions to the side and just follow whatever instructions are presented, peace, lightness and a sense of ease cannot be hidden from you. “It is not that you don’t care, but you don’t mind. Less mind.”
Most of the time we mistaken the self for personality, they are 2 different aspects, personality or ego is built on the self, they will suffer their identity, since they are fake imitations of the true self, while the true self is perfect and complete, and you will rejoice in its presence.
When you discover the self, your personality might be threatened or feel uncomfortable, but this is how it gets purified. Just bear with me, and know that my intentions are always good, trying to make you get rid of mind concepts and physical sensation which may disturb your peace.
It is like Rumi says, “When someone beats a rug, the blows are not against the rug, but against the dust in it.”
It is not against you, but the concept you call “you or yourself”, it is against the things that you falsely identify yourself with.
There is a beautiful saying: “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God”.
Once you will realize your true self, the original self, the way you were created, of which many scriptures say it is eternal, all the nonsense will drop off instantly.
One of the outcomes of the practice is not thinking, but rather experiencing, feeling and focusing on different aspects of the practice, it is not an 1h monologue with your mind.
Keep it simple, breath, physical sensations, focus on what is there, not imagining how it is supposed to be, just be. Be in different postures.
Requirements:
***Empty stomach,3-4 h after food. Try not to drink coffee, alcohol or smoke before or immediately after. It will just mess with your nervous and pranic (life energy) system.
***No knowledge or experience is required. Most of the times someone who is totally new to yoga, absorbs and gets a lot more than someone who practice yoga for 10 years, because when an old practitioner comes, he doesn’t just practice, but has an opinion about everything, which is hampering the experience and masks the discoveries.
***Open mind, no expectation, be realistic and observed what it is, rather than what your expectation are, dedication, total involvement, follow the instruction and I will take care of the rest.
PS: Please don’t be late, try to arrive 5-10 min in advance. Be silent stay silent until the class begins. Once you book the place, stick to that, since sometimes you may take somebody else place.
I might also need a phone confirmation and more details to keep in contact, which I may ask before attending.
See you soon.
